Started over ten years ago, the Kahootz band is Boston’s premier party band. We are foremost a high energy dance band adaptable to any style event whether it be a fundraiser, a corporate event or a private affair such as a wedding reception. We are recommended by most major hotels in New England and have built a reputation as being Boston’s best party band able to cover every popular dance style from every era. Among the things that set us apart from other bands is our fresh and unique approach to every affair we play. We do this by working closely with our clients to ensure they get the best party experience possible.
The Kahootz band is a nine-member rehearsed unit. The band you hire is the band you get. The group features one female and two male lead singers. And offer a full rhythm section of keyboards, drums, guitar and bass and two horns: saxophone and trombone. Among the musicians two also sing lead which gives the band five lead singers in all.

“We hired KAHOOTZ for our wedding and couldn’t be happier we did. I listened to basically every band in Boston before hiring them, and what really set them apart was 1) amazing interaction with guests and 2) STELLAR lead singers (you feel like you’re at a professional concert). They had our whole wedding party up and dancing the whole night. In our wedding photos you see the band members out on the dance floor interacting with guests and passing around the mic — how fun is that??! THANK YOU KAHOOTZ you’re amazing.” – Jenna
“Kahootz is AMAZING! Kahootz played at my wedding on 5/28/2016, and people are still raving about how the band was absolutely incredible. I planned my wedding in Boston from Hawaii, and I found Kahootz based on strong recommendations from event planners in Boston and reviews online. The band exceeded all of my expectations! There are so many things I loved about the band: their high energy, their sound, the range of talent, their expansive song selection, their ability to make all the guests have fun, the way they interacted with our guests and walked through the dance floor, their professionalism, their years of experience, and how much they enjoyed playing at our wedding (you can tell they are passionate about their work!) I also really appreciated how Chris Cole made our day so special by arranging to have the keyboardist play at our ceremony and cocktail hour. Chris did a great job with going over all of the details for the day and putting together a song list that was appropriate for all of our guests. I am so thrilled with the choice we made to have Kahootz play at our wedding!” – Kristen
“Words that come to mind when I think of Kahootz: FUN, highly talented, lively, upbeat, professional, knowledgable, accommodating…did I mention fun? This band was an absolute hit at our wedding. Our family and friends tore up the dance floor as the band danced with us and performed across multiple genres. Leon even sang from the photo booth and the outdoor deck! This band is the real deal and we couldn’t be happier that we had them be a part of our big day. Hiring Kahootz is a decision you won’t regret! Worth every penny!” – Kristina
“Kahootz made our wedding so incredibly wonderful! Every single guest commented on how amazing the band was. They were so receptive to my description of the type of party I wanted and read the crowd so well as the night went on. Every single song came at the perfect time. I could not be more grateful for their incredible service and amazing performance at my wedding!” – Genevieve
“I have worked in events for over 17 years. Mostly, I have worked on Cape Cod but I have worked across the country. So, when it came time to plan my own wedding I knew which vendors I wanted. Kahootz has always been my favorite band out of all the bands I have seen over the years. They are worth every penny and more! I have worked hundreds of weddings and it was the first time I have ever seen people dance before salads were even served. They engage the whole audience and everyone had so much fun. People are still calling me to tell me how fabulous our wedding was! Thank you Kahootz!!!” – Tiffany
“Where do we start? Kahootz is the BEST WEDDING BAND EVER! All of the band members are incredibly talented which allows them to play a very diverse playlist, from the classic hits to the latest Top 40 and everything in between. They are also the most fun and engaging wedding band we have ever seen (our guests echoed this sentiment). The lead singers were always out in the crowd, allowing the guests to sing and dance right along with them, and you can tell that all of the musicians love doing what they do which gives off a super fun vibe. The dance floor was packed all night long which is exactly what we had hoped for on our day, and I can’t begin to tell you how many of our guests commented on how talented and fun the band was. Kahootz made the night everything we wanted it to be. Lastly, but not to be overlooked, working with Chris Cole (the band manager) was a breeze. He is professional, organized, responsive, and consistently focused on making your day the best it can possibly be. He met with us in person prior to the wedding day, where he got all of the details and listened to our vision of the day – he then helped to work out the flow of the reception and customized the music based on our vision. He also worked with our day-of coordinator at the venue behind the scenes to make everything seamless and stress-free. We cannot recommend Kahootz highly enough!!! P.S. if Kahootz is already booked for your wedding day, check out their sister bands K2 and KB3. We have been to a wedding where K2 was the band and they are incredible as well!” – Jonathan
“I cannot begin to say how amazing Kahootz was at our wedding. Chris was a delight to work with during the planning process. The number one feedback we get about our wedding night was how incredible the band was. They played throughout the entire night with a wide selection of songs perfect for every moment. They took the time to learn our first dance song and played all the songs on our “must play” list and stayed away from those that weren’t our style. Most of all, it felt like they were part of the party as it clearly shows they love what they do. I cannot say enough about Kahootz and HIGHLY recommend them for any event!!” – Sarah
“I was a guest at my nephew’s last Friday night wedding at the West Dennis Yacht club. You guys are wonderful and made the night! My husband and I never got off the dance floor (we were some of the oldies) and totally enjoyed you! I have three “kids” in their 20s and maybe we can have your band at one of their weddings! You are all so talented! Thanks!” – Maryan
“Here are some of the quotes from our wedding guests about Kahootz: “Best. Band. Ever.” “Can I have their email address?” “Holy cow, my husband never dances. I can’t believe they did that.” “That band was EPIC.” More than that – we had a blast dancing and singing all night. In short, they are incredible. They got our guests dancing early and kept everyone going late into the night. They are supremely talented, engaging performers. Working with Chris was a cinch and we used Kahootz for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and ceremony. For the ceremony music, Randy even got on the phone with me and played different versions of our selections to make sure it was exactly what we wanted. Hiring Kahootz was one of the best decisions we made to ensure the night was unforgettable for us and our guests and, as the oldest of three girls, you can be sure they will be playing at my sisters’ weddings in the future.” – Catie, Mike and the Lee family.
“As I told you at the end of the evening, Kahootz was wonderful at my daughter, Diana’s wedding at the Sonesta on 6/25. The dance floor was packed all the time and that was what we wanted- everyone up and dancing and having a great time. You helped that to happen. Thank you. I’ve received very positive feedback about Kahootz and have passed on your name to friends and family. One regret is that the evening went too quickly- something you have probably heard before! But that’s a good thing!!!” – Nancy Leader-Kramer (Mother of the Bride)
From Diana and Seth Moskowitz wedding 6/25/16
“Dear Chris and members of Kahootz, There is a reason you call yourselves “bostonbestbandever” ! I want to thank you for helping to make my daughters’ wedding reception ” the best wedding ever” ! From your soft dinner music to rocking dance music our guests were blown away by your talent and energy. I have never been to a wedding where practically everyone at the wedding was up dancing the entire night. This speaks to your talent, passion and ability to read the crowd. Your professionalism and musicianship impressed our guests from all parts of the globe. We heard over and over how fabulous they thought you were. In thinking about the large warehouse space I knew we needed a presence and the decision to have a large stage for you to showcase this presence was a good one, not only did you sound terrific but everyone could see you performing as well. It made for great entertainment. Please let everyone know how thrilled we were with their performance and will sing your praises to anyone looking for the best band ever!” – Ellen and Dexter Legg 11/15/2015
“Kahootz is not only an excellent band and vendor, but they transformed our wedding from a fun ceremony into, according to many of our friends and family, “One of the best weddings I have ever been to.” Multiple guests came to me the day after to tell me they had never had more fun. Many people inquired about booking Kahootz the night of our wedding! Most of our wedding was planned and executed by my beautiful wife and lovely mother-in-law. One of the only things I was responsible for was logistics with the band. This was great, because it allowed me to plan a surprise for my bride. I’m a performer and a comedian and wanted to sing something special for her. Kahootz not only helped me plan, they also allowed my friend to sit in with the band on lead guitar. Chris and crew helped me orchestrate my surprise (at no extra charge) and I sang “I Believe In A Thing Called Love” and gave my wife one last wedding present. She was none the wiser and Kahootz pulled it off with ease. A highlight of our night for sure. A few other notes: Sometimes it’s hard to figure out where the music is coming from BECAUSE THE SINGERS ARE IN THE CROWD WITH YOUR GUESTS! This kind of crowd participation is amazing and allows your guests to sing along and feel part of the show. Also, I have never been at a wedding where people were standing like hungry animals, waiting to dance. Kahootz has that special something that makes people get out of their seats and have a good time. Don’t worry about the food. If Kahootz is playing, it might not get eaten. Kahootz did a beautiful job of orchestrating the night, playing the songs we requested and keeping the ceremony moving along. They also recently changed singers, but never fear – they didn’t miss a beat. The band was sweet and cordial with guests, played generational material that got everyone dancing. They’re well worth the money for their professionalism, kindness, ability, and serious musical chops. We’re going to get married again just to book them.” – Evan Kaufman 11/10/2015
“Many, many thanks and kudos to you and Kahootz for an amazing nite at Caitlin and Evan’s wedding. Everyone has been raving about what a fantastic band we had and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves from the moment you started playing. You really captured the mood we wanted for our celebration and it made the night so festive. Of course you did have a “little help” from my new son in law. That number with him was a complete surprise of course and blew everyone’s mind! We also enjoyed his exchange with the band.
I’m only sorry that in all the excitement I never got to meet you. I was so busy all night and by the time I remembered I was out the door. Please forgive my bad manners. But I will be so please to recommend you to all my friends and family for future events!” – Marcia Kean 10/26/2015
“As we all get back to our “real” lives, I wanted to pause for a moment to thank you and your entire band for a phenomenal evening Saturday night! Everyone is still buzzing about Kahootz. I’ve heard from so many people that Kahootz was the best band they ever heard…I agree! Your playlist was perfect and everyone just seemed to be playing and singing their hearts out to present the best version possible of each song you chose. I’m sure you realized that you had a good dancing crowd and we were thrilled that the dance floor was filled most of the evening. In fact, folks we never saw dance before were up there because you created such a perfect atmosphere. We particularly loved that your singer was able to have some fun with Jeremy near the end and get him to take the microphone…that was great! Ronna and Jeremy particularly loved all the singers mingling on the dance floor and getting people to sing into the mic as it just made it even more inclusive and fun. Please tell Randy a special thank you for great work on the keyboards for the processional and recessional.
It was a pleasure to work with you. Thanks again for an absolutely stellar evening…we couldn’t have asked for more and a great deal of that sentiment is due to your contribution” – Holly Boyer 10/5/2015
“Well, my wedding is now over, and can I just say WOW! and also thank you! I can’t even put into words how amazing Kahootz was this weekend for my wedding. I mean I knew you guys were good, since I’ve seen you in action previously, but I think you were even better this time around! I didn’t think that could happen since you were already so good! You really made my day even that much more special. So thank you for putting on an amazing performance, thank you for dealing with my anxiety about switching lead singers, thank you for having things run smoothly and thank you for playing a lot of songs that we all loved. You all were truly amazing.
There were many favorite parts of the night, but I have to say my favorite, favorite part of the night was the last song- Don’t Stop Believing! AMaaazing! I cried after it! I’m not sure if it was the fact that the whole moment was so moving and I felt so loved, or if I was just sad it was all over (ha), but I keep reliving that moment over and over.
Well Kahootz, thank you again. I couldn’t have asked for a better band and a better wedding day. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.” – Lauren Block 9/10/2015
“Kahootz is amazing!!! They played at my recent wedding and kept the crowd going all night long to rave reviews. So many wedding guests commented that Kahootz is the best wedding band they have ever heard and seen – I agree! Kahootz has great energy and the vocalists came out to the dance floor to dance and sing with the wedding guests. People loved this!” – Christine 3/21/15
“I have no words to express how amazing this band is. I am still speechless from an amazing wedding night! My husband went to hear them at a showcase and loved them. We signed up instantly. Throughout the process Chris was great. So easy to work with and he just got us…after 5 minutes in our meeting before the wedding he asked 2 questions and instantly knew what we wanted and what our vibe was. During the day they provided us with ceremony music – keyboard which played traditional Jewish ceremony music – was incredible!! Then there was a jazz trio during cocktail hour and the full band for the party. They read the crowd perfectly. Playing the perfect combination of music. We were told this was the first time at the venue that people were dancing before dinner and they couldn’t get them to sit down. It was spectacular. The hora was amazing and everyone joined in. The next 3-4 hours were the best time of our lives and we are so thankful for Chris and the entire band!!! My feet still hurt and I was wearing flats!! Thank you so much!!!” – Barbara 3/27/15
“Working with Kahootz was one of the best decisions we made in planning our wedding. From start to finish they were easy to work with, straight forward, responsive, and fun. Most importantly though, they absolutely rocked the night of our wedding. We gave Chris a rough idea of our likes (and a LOT of our dislikes) and he created the perfect set list. The band sounded unbelievable and people of all ages were on the dance floor the whole night. I actually wish we had a recording of their version of our first dance song (by Otis Redding) because I loved it so much. They were also able to work with the hotel to manage the entire reception schedule so myself, my husband, and our families didn’t have to worry about a thing. At the end of the night, our friends were on the floor chanting “one more song”. I think that says it all!!”
“I cannot begin to say enough wonderful things about Kahootz! There are so many adjectives I could use to describe how amazing their talent is! Chris was such a pleasure to work with leading up to the wedding. His patience, guidance and flexibility are truly one of a kind! As a wedding professional myself, there are few people that live up to my standards and Kahootz is definitely one that surpasses them all! Months later, my family and friends are still raving about Kahootz! I would not hesitate to recommend them personally or professionally!” – Crystal 10/31/2014
“Chris Cole and Kahootz are absolutely outstanding! Our biggest hope for our reception was that people would get out on the dance floor early and stay there all night long. In addition to keeping the party going, they were incredibly flexible in terms of learning a couple of obscure songs for the special dances early in the evening in order to please our parents and grandparents. We have heard again and again from friends and family in the month since we got married about how amazing our band was and how engaging they were with our crowd. The singers frequently joined the party on the dance floor and pushed the energy over the top. We cannot underscore enough how pleased we were to have this amazing band perform on our special evening and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone for whatever the occasion.”
“We loved Kahootz!! They made our November wedding a PARTY!!! They are so worth the price and everyone at our wedding commented on how awesome they were. They were all professional and accommodating- and just so much fun. I hope some of my engaged friends hire them so I can dance to their music again soon!” – Laura
“I wanted to say HUGE thank you to Kahootz for helping make our wedding so unbelievably special! We had extremely high expectations given the glowing review, and you guys still crushed them! From our call leading to up to the wedding to mastering our first dance song to playing Backstreet Boys’ Everbody a the first song =] to keeping the dance floor hopping all night long, there is truly nothing I would change. You guys are by far the best band we have ever heard and we are so grateful we got to have you play at our wedding. The range of music, the energy, and the vocals were all exceptional.” – Jon & Kelly Riverside Farm, Pittsfield, VT 9/3/17
You can stop looking for your wedding band right now because Kahootz is the best! No one left the dance floor until the band had to stop playing at our wedding. Every song was top notch and the musicians were amazing. The songs we asked them to learn for us turned out so well. I wish I could throw parties all the time just so I can hire Kahootz again.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is it inappropriate or disrespectful to you guys if we ask that our first dance be played by CD?
A: Not at all. Often clients who have been taking dance lessons (groom’s take note: I’m NOT advocating this – ha ha ) choose to do their routine to CD because they’ve been practicing to it.
Q: We have a smaller sized wedding and our location is intimate. Will you cut the band down is size?
A: We regularly do smaller sized affairs – we even did a surprise birthday party in Vermont for 19 people once! But we don’t cut the size down. We want your event to be incredible and we need our whole team to make that happen. One thing to know is because we use a state of the art sound system with in ear monitors for the singers we take up less room than most bands our size. The real downfall of cutting the band down in size is that you also cut down on the breath of material we do.
Q: We’re hosting a 40th anniversary for our parents. We’re doing it in a tent. Do you have any special needs?
A: Tented affairs come with a unique set of issues. When done right no matter what the weather – they’re amazing. But being we’re surrounded by electricity it’s very important to get it right – for our safety as well as for your guests. Please email me so I can send you specific information about what our tent needs are.
Q: Will you learn any music for us?
A: Happy to. We’ll learn up to two songs not on the current song lists.
Q: Our Rabbi says he needs a lavalier microphone for our ceremony. Can we barrow a mic?
A: He’s asking for a very special microphone that will clip to his clothes and be inconspicuous. I’m sorry we don’t own one. Also you should know that a microphone by itself creates no sound. You’ll need a small sound system for his microphone to work through. Often we help our clients with this. We don’t ourselves own a small portable sound system but we’ll be happy to rent one along with the microphone he’s asking for. We’ll come early and set it up, we’ll tear it down when the ceremony is finished and return it to the rental company for you. Feel free to email me so I can check on the latest rates for you.
Q: Are you willing to meet with us before our wedding?
A: Yes. We do detail meetings 10 days before a client’s affair. Most clients prefer to meet in person and I make every effort to accommodate that. Sometimes due to time, distance or people being to darn busy we do it over the phone. Whatever is best for you.
Q: Can we send you a specific list of songs we want you to play?
A: Let me start by saying the more information we have the better performance we will do for you and your guests. Hopefully we’ll have time to meet before the wedding. Detail meetings happen 10 days before the affair and my preference is we do it in person. At the end of the meeting I’ll ask you to give me five songs, artists or genres that you are horrified at being a part of your celebration. After that I ask that you tell us five songs artists or genres that you’re looking forward to being a part of the evening. At that point we ask that you trust that we’ll read the crowd and create a great event
Q: How much space do you need?
A: What is ideal is a width of 22 feet with a depth of 12 feet. We rarely get ideal unless we’re at one of the hotels. We’ll do everything we can to work with the space you have.
Q. Do you carry liability Insurance? The place we’re having our wedding says all our vendors need to carry it.
A: Absolutely. Over a million dollars worth.
